New Nashville Star Winner

http://www.nbc.com/Nashville_Star/

Nashville Star, country music's version of American Idol, had its 'crowning moment' show this week, and chose a new winner. Melissa Lawson, a 33-year old mother of 5 boys all under 10 years of age, is the newest Nashville Star.

Lawson, who is from Arlington, Texas, won the competition over 2nd place finisher Gabe Garcia.

Her first single released "What If It All Goes Right," went to #1 on iTunes country list almost immediately the next day following the competition.

She really does have a beautiful voice, and it will be interesting to see how she does and how well country fans welcome her. Will we hear her songs 6 months from now? David Cook, the last American Idol winner, comes to mind when I make this statement. I really, really liked his voice, and thought he did a super job. However, I'm still waiting for more than just his one song that came out immediately after American Idol.
